1807 - Hickman County was formed from a portion of Dickson County, Tennessee, USA.

1817 - Lawrence County formed from portions of Hickman County and Giles County. Also, Wayne County formed from a portion of Hickman County.

1819 - Perry County formed from a portion of Hickman County.

1830-1840 - Humphreys County received land from Hickman County, Dickson County and Stewart County.

1843 - Lewis County formed from portions of Hickman County, Lawrence County, Maury County and Wayne County.

1860-1870 - Hickman County received land from Williamson County, creating Hickman County's present day boundries.
