Notes:
1632 - Lord Baltimore obtained a charter from Charles I of England for the Province of Maryland, England.

1634 - The first settlers arrived in Maryland.

1707 - On 1 May, England became a part of the UK.

1748 - Frederick County was formed from a portion of Prince George's County and unincorporated land.

1750 - Frederick County received land from Baltimore County.

1776 - Montgomery County and Washington County were both formed from portions Frederick County.

1776 - On 4 July, the Declaration of Independence of the 13 colonies as the United States of America, was adopted by the Second Continental Congress.

1781 - On 2 February, Maryland was the 13th state to ratify the Articles of Confederation of the United States of America.

1788 - On 28 April, Maryland ratified the Constitution and became the 7th state in the United States of America.

1837 - Carrol County was formed from portions of Frederick County and Baltimore County, creating Frederick County's present day boundries.
