Notes:
1801 - Anderson County was formed from a portion of Knox County, Tennessee, USA. The town of Burrville was established as the county seat of Anderson County.

1803 - Anderson County received land from the "Indian Lands". The Indian Lands were renamed Western District.

1806 - Campbell County formed from portions of Anderson County and Claiborne County.

1809 - Burrville was renamed Clinton.

1849 - Scott County formed from portions of Anderson County, Morgan County and Campbell County.

1850-1860 - Scott County received land from Anderson County, Morgan County and Campbell County.

1850 - Union County formed from portions of Anderson County, Campbell County, Grainger County, Knox County and Claiborne County.

1903 - Morgan County received land from Anderson County, creating Anderson County's present day boundries.
