Notes:
1663 - A charter was issued to eight English noblemen for the Province of Carolina, England.

1707 - On 1 May, England became a part of Great Britain.

1712 - The Province of Carolina was split into the Province of North Carolina and the Province of South Carolina.

1750 - Anson County was formed from a portion of Bladen County, Province of North Carolina, UK.

1753 - Rowan County formed from a portion of Anson County.

1762 - Mecklenburg County formed from a portion of Anson County.

1776 - On 4 July, the Declaration of Independence of the 13 colonies as the United States of America, was adopted by the Second Continental Congress. In November, North Carolina created a state constitution.

1778 - On 5 April, North Carolina was the 10th state to ratify the Articles of Confederation of the United States of America.

1778 - Montgomery County formed from a portion of Anson County.

1779 - Richmond County formed from a portion of Anson County.

1789 - On 21 November, North Carolina became the 12th state in the United States of America by ratifying the US Constitution.

1842 - Union County formed from portions of Anson County and Mecklenburg County, creating Anson County's present day boundries.
